The market out there, for writers and journalists, is never especially robust in the United States. But even with the rise of plagiaristic A.I. programs, I’ve found there’s still a demand for people who can write well. It’s just about finding the opportunity.
What’s cool about this newsletter is the community that’s been built. There are many readers from a wide array of industries. It isn’t just writers reading a writer (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and I encounter people here from all walks of life, especially in the comments section.
The other day, I had an idea: why not use this newsletter to run a one-off classifieds section for writers seeking work? Here’s how this will go: if you are someone with a business or an individual in need of a writer to assist you, you can email me a little job posting (a description of the work, with a pay range) and I can try to connect you with a writer and/or post it here.
To email, simply reply to this post when it hits your inbox, or send it to ross@rossbarkan.com. No scam jobs! If you’re a business owner or you need a ghostwriter or you’re looking for a tutor or anything that pays genuine money—writers, never work for free—contact me when you can. I want to get a good number postings listed, if possible. (As in, there are people seeking help from a writer.)
And to clarify: this is not for me. Please don’t reach out looking to hire me, as kind as that may be. I’m all set. I want to connect other writers and try to be useful.
Let’s see if this works!
This is a great idea. I am always hiring and actually about to post for grant writer(I know this isnt journalistic position, but the best GW's are creative writers) in the coming days. :)
Very cool!
