Much as with your assessment of DeBlasio, you again capture the nuances and complexities of people and politics. Like for most progressives Adams was not my favorite candidate. But as an alternative transportation advocate and evangelical vegan, there are things that I like about him that give me hope for how he will govern.

This was a fantastic reminder of why I’m a paying subscriber. Well done. Something else about the three mayors mentioned- and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, since I’m an outside observer of New York, but I never got the sense that DeBlasio liked New York, not in the same way that Adams does. Bloomberg exuded that too, albeit in a more rarified way. I think the voters, but especially the press, picked up on that. Do I have that right?

I think that's right. De Blasio wasn't a bad mayor if judging by accomplishments but he clearly loved the job less than Rudy, Bloomberg, Koch, and probably Dinkins

If by "Normie", you mean corruption, pandering, incompetence and self aggrandizement -- well then, yup! Adams is the mayor for Normies.
