Insightful summary! And you're right about Schumer-- he spoke at my ( and my sister's) junior high school graduations. Whether you like him or not ( and I'm generally not a fan) he put in the hours attending every street fair, graduation, etc. during his rise. I'd see him all the time as a kid, when he was my assemblyman, then congressman.

What's your sourcing for all the descriptions of Morales' thinking?

I thought Morales had the most progressive positions on the issues but knew nothing about her otherwise. My mistake. Lucky we have rank choice.

Once again, good piece. However, it feels like you're saying that Dianne Morales is a Fraud. I don't think that's true at all. If this is how we're grading people, everyone will fail the test because we all have made decisions in the past that do not jibe with our politics. Especially when it comes to professional decisions.

Good piece, I'd also suggest that Morales initial base of support (driven by TikTok), and seen in some of the campaign staffers, were driven by recently politicized young people. I remember feeling like an old man (I'm 29) on a volunteer call cause many of the folks initially inspired by her campaign were super young. This is obviously a frustrating and disappointing situation but as you wrote before that someone was able to carve out a far left lane without really the base support of other left groups is a bit remarkable to me. (Yes, she got a lot of endorsements but idk maybe this election will get folks to shun caring about endorsement if they don't involve $ or door knocking). A shame she's basically gone ghost the last week for staffers, volunteers, and folks that were previously interested in voting for her.
