Where did you go? NY is hopeless. They are claiming Carl Heastie is a "conservative." Lol

I moved to central Virginia. Northern VA is getting to be like NY or Boston only cleaner and everyone works for the federal government in some capacity or serves those who do.

I get 4 nice seasons but never the heat of FL or the nasty cold of the Northeast. Housing is reasonable. State taxes are not unreasonable. Property taxes in my county are reasonable. I'm surrounded by wine and horse country with some excellent little restaurants around. Its a rare day I see traffic and even then it probably would not even be considered to be traffic back north. Got two local farmers markets to shop at. Public schools are not bad and there are good private ones that cost about half what they would in NY. Nobody looks at you wild eyed if your out with a shotgun either hunting or shooting trap. Very very little of that woke BS that seems to permeate the big cities. In fact, for being in the country we have a pretty diverse population but people seem to get along well. Maybe thats because there are far fewer people and so its a lot harder to self segregate and you tend to know most people by at least sight. Great university system with Virginia Tech, UVA, William and Mary, etc.

All that and IF you want to get to DC for a night out in Georgetown it is only about a 70 minute drive before or after rush hour.

I honestly do not understand why people put up with what they do in NY, NJ etc. There are SO many other places in the country to live that are just great. Austin is just amazing. San Antonio as well. Nashville is terrific. Both of the Carolina's are wonderful and I love Atlanta or even better Savanah.

Other thing I have noticed? People are a lot less rude and a lot more polite and generally nicer than they are in the north.
