Anyone who doesn’t support the military industrial complex and big pharma is a fascist. Join the resistance and follow the science! https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/how-to-follow-the-science-join-the-resistanc

Just a reminder - while the servants of the military industrial complex are pouring more than $120 billion into the very profitable business of supporting the Ukraine proxy war, Flint MI and Jackson MS still have contaminated drinking water.

The supporters of this war obviously to don't care about human life. Obviously.

Today I learned that the feminist poet Ingeborg Bachmann, roughly the Austro-German equivalent of Sylvia Plath, had an affair with *Henry Kissinger* in the 50s: https://www.dialoginternational.com/dialog_international/2017/12/beauty-and-the-beast-ingeborg-bachmanns-encounters-with-henry-kissinger.html

This is the single most uncanny romantic coupling I've ever heard of so I am telling everyone including the Ross Barkan comment section.

Great article, well balanced and refreshingly honest about the reality of the war. I'd just add to that last sentence, the anti-trumper neocons are not just comfortable with human death, they're comfortable with Ukraine being obliterated in the course of weakening Russia because it's not them or their families dying every day fighting a war they can't win and because it's not their quality of life that suffers by spending hundreds of billions of dollars funding an unwinnable war at the expense of American taxpayers.

I think this post strikes a good balance. There are elements on the left -- including people I know slightly -- who have said that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is all NATO's fault and who imply that Russia should be cheered on. This post begins an argument for diplomacy rather than another never-ending (proxy) war.

Very interesting take as usual - and the last paragraph is another home run.

The "Climate Change Emergency" is scoffed at because that's what it deserves. It's apparent that no one except the True Believers take it seriously. How am I supposed to take noted scientist John Kerry seriously when be blabbers about Climate Change! while jetting around the world in a private aircraft. Really? He "offsets". Yeah, ok. So to do your penance and pay your indulgence you can 'offset' - but only if you have the cash. The Proles must live without ice (the latest NYT take), air conditioning, travel, and a normal sized house. I'm supposed to buy an electric car, and who cares that the copper mines in South America are stretched to the breaking point, and indigenous labor is exploited.

I was part of a Left that cared about this stuff. Now even mentioning it causes you to be labeled a "denier". Interesting word choice.

Meanwhile, banks are approving loans for hotels on Miami Beach (where I am now), huge conferences in the UAE are planned for 'climate', and everyone flies there, Pres. Obama's beautiful $14 million dollar house resides on the fragile ecosystem on the shore of Martha's Vineyard, and the latest stooge from the WEF coined the term "Global Boiling" - a rhetorical trick that would not pass muster in 7th grade Composition.

There is a whole lot more regarding what was once a solid and effective Environmentalist Movement, but now this absurd focus on temperature has become a nonsense religion, complete with indulgences and a preferred class that doesn't seem to have to play by the rules.

My position is "YOU first". All the people at the top can show me that they're serious about CO2 emissions by changing how they act. Until then, I treat it like the scam that it's become.

Ctrl-F "Mexico" or "Iran" and you find nothing. I enjoy Ross' pieces but it is absolutely silly to act like the opposition to Ukrainian arms support comes from some anti-war principle. It's a Biden war that makes the based traditionalist Putin look bad, that's it.

What an absolute rubbish text. It's appalling that someone can still write this 1 and a half year after the full invasion ignoring everything that Russia did and said before and during this period. Of course there will be some negotiation at some point when one of the parts surrender, like many times before. Like when US army got out of Vietnam, like when European countries left their colonies after bloody, stupid wars. Like Germany after the WWI, yes, and, yes, after WWII, in both there were negotiations, ie, a surrender in the terms of the winners, who happened to be right, like Ukraine, and Europe and, for one of those few times, th US.

TV-Ramaswamy rather transparently takes an intentionally extreme position on every single issue. It makes him a lively guest on TV which has earned him many appearances already, because it earns him the support of a few single-issue extremists every time, and because it makes for good youtube content. I would say it's pure "visibility hacking" that's earned him his respectable 6-8% this fast even as a fringe candidate.

Trump, I think, is actually deeply avoidant of blood. I think he was acutely anxious that an embarrassing military failure would beclown him like the Falklands War beclowned Galtieri in Argentina. If anything serious had happened I think he would've begged the military to just handle it themselves and not make him responsible for anything.

The real question is why you, Vivek and everyone else seem so terrified of China and obsessed with our "rivalry" - which, from a Chinese perspective, is kind of one-sided. If there's any lesson you should all learn at Nixon's feet it's that a cooperative relationship with China is a necessity because "China" is a quarter of the fucking world.

Zhongguo, the Han nation, is three thousand years old. Rapidly they decided that rule by the people's blessing is more sensible than rule by heaven's blessing, but as for this actual "rule by the people" that is the latest fad among Western barbarians, the material gains & losses will be duly analyzed, and perhaps in due time a few toes will be dipped in those foreign waters if they look steady and calm. Presently though those waters look foamy and turbulent, plus something alarmingly big & orange is rocking very roughly on top of the waves.

I bet Xi quakes with laughter when Western barbarians get to quabbling about that little island of dissident fellow Han. The gwailoh gabber endlessly about "China" bloodily and stupidly bashing its head against an adjacent wall... meanwhile Zhongguo reaches one long arm to the East to Africa and another to the West to Ecuador. Can you see what Xi's reaching for, or am I the only one? It'll make a mighty nice forty mile buckle to finish the "One Belt."
